Perl - DBI y .pgpass

¡SÍ! Hay ES una mejor manera.

Cambie fácilmente entre los servidores de prueba y en vivo.

• mantener las contraseñas en ~/.pgpass (para psql &pg_dump )
• otra información de configuración en ~/.pg_service.conf (o /etc/pg_service.conf )

por ejemplo:
